Webinar Series: From Challenge to Insight

From Processing History to Precipitation Pathways and Mechanical Properties:

Practical Insights into the Thermo-Calc Precipitation Module (TC-PRISMA)

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 AT 3 PM CET/10 AM EDT

SPEAKER: Carl-Magnus Lancelot

The Thermo-Calc Precipitation Module (TC-PRISMA) enables quantitative prediction of precipitation evolution during complex alloy processing. However, its successful application requires a solid understanding of model parameters, physical assumptions, and transformation mechanisms.

In this webinar, practical examples will be presented on how to calibrate precipitation models against experimental data, identify critical parameters, and improve the reliability of simulations. Case studies will highlight complex precipitation phenomena, including the competitive growth of metastable particles and sequential precipitate transformations in metastable aluminium alloys.

The webinar will also demonstrate how complete processing histories can be reproduced to establish the link between precipitation evolution, final microstructures, and mechanical properties. Attendees will gain practical guidance on applying CALPHAD-based precipitation modelling to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of alloy development and process simulations.

From Challenge to Insight Series

This webinar is part of the webinar series From Challenge to Insight: Thermo-Calc for Real-World Materials Challenges.

Running from September to November 2026, the series features webinars presented by Thermo-Calc experts, each focusing on a different area of the software and demonstrating its application to real-world challenges through detailed use cases involving real alloy systems, materials, and industrial processes.

Join us to explore practical examples and learn how Thermo-Calc software can support your own work.
