Sustainability pushes technological adaptations in the metallurgical industry in order to diminish energy consumption and GHG emission. In this webinar, you will be presented the case of the FeNi production, where a transition technology consisting of selective reduction assisted by magnetic separation (SR-MS) is presented, which is able to be adapted to the RKEF conventional process. Experimental work accompanied by computational thermodynamics indicates that the proposed SR-MS method is able to concentrate Ni from less than 1% in the ore to almost 4% in the calcine, simultaneously diminishing CO2e emissions from 138.82 to 34 kg CO2/kg Ni, with further positive impact on a reduction of ~70% energy consumption during smelting.
